Joined the North Rhine-Westphalia police force in 1993 and has worked in various areas since; employed at the police headquarters in Cologne since 2007.

Member of Amnesty International, Greenpeace and the Institute for Solidarity in Modern Times.

Member of Alliance 90/The Greens since 2006; member of the executive committee of the Gelsenkirchen county branch of Alliance 90/The Greens from 2007 to 2009, member of the executive committee of the North Rhine-Westphalian Land branch of Alliance 90/The Greens since 2010; member of Gelsenkirchen city council from 2009 to 2013.
